REACH
The most important facts:
We are your competent partner in any questions regarding the REACH Regulation and offer our customers various performance levels whilst paying due attention to the ‘Only Representative’ concept.
- REACH has the purpose of protecting humans and the environment from damaging chemicals
- REACH will encompass some 30,000 substances according to estimates
- It will be mandatory to register any chemicals in excess of 1 ton in quantity that are produced in the EU or imported into the EU
- This registration has to be effected by a natural person or legal entity with a location/registered offices in the EU
- The registration files will be evaluated by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) located in Helsinki
- REACH will require authorisation and restrictions on chemicals where there are grave misgivings for particular fields of application and where risks have already been proven
- The pre-registration allows for a kind of transition period for ‘phase-in’ substances and also allows time for comprehensive registration procedures to be completed
- Depending upon the quantities of the substances, these transition periods may range from 3.5 to 6 and 11 years
- To enable registration, information on the final area of application will be required
